How do I view GSI on my phone?
The web application above can be viewed on a mobile phone. But we do not offer the GSI indicator on FXCM Trading Station Mobile at this time.
Is GSI a trading signal?
No, it’s a technical indicator. The percentages are not probabilities or predictions; they describe historical outcomes.
When is GSI most active?
Grid Sight Index is designed to be used when price volatility is generally high. The indicator tends to provide the most useful data during the European and US sessions. The indicator is usually less useful during the Asian session and with pairs like EUR/GBP due to low price volatility.
Will history repeat itself?
Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t. It’s up to you to decide when to rely on a technical indicator in your trading strategy. This is true with all technical analysis.
Which strategies work with GSI?
Grid Sight Index was designed to be incorporated into all trading strategies. A popular way to use GSI is to trade tops and bottoms, also known as range trading.

What is an Inactive status?
The status is Inactive when there are insufficient Matching Events. This occurs more often when price volatility is low—e.g., during the Asian session or with instruments like EUR/GBP.
When will the indicator update?
The indicator refreshes when one of two conditions are met: 1) when price moves beyond one of the analysis lines on the chart 2) or when price does not move beyond one of the analysis lines and the Current Period is exceeded.
Why don’t the lines equal 100%?
The lines are not probabilities. They describe the way price behaved following a specific number of Matching Events—e.g., in what percentage of Matching Events did subsequent price rise by at least 5 pips? 10 pips? 15 pips? Etc.
Are the percentages predictions?
No, the percentages tell you how price historically responded to specific price patterns. They say nothing definitive about the future.
